Dr. Aicha Bouraoui is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Divisional Medical Information Officer at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, where she leads the Early Inflammatory Arthritis service at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. She also holds an Honorary Consultant post in Adolescent Rheumatology at University College London Hospital (UCLH).
Trained across London and the East of England, she combines clinical excellence with expertise in leadership, population health, and quality improvement. She has completed a prestigious Darzi Fellowship in Clinical Leadership and a coaching fellowship with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. An accredited health coach, she is committed to empowering patients to self-manage long-term conditions with confidence through truly personalised, collaborative care.
At Lewisham and Greenwich, Dr Bouraoui runs the Connective Tissue Disease Clinic and oversees a rapid-access service for early inflammatory arthritis, focused on prompt diagnosis and timely treatment. Her approach is holistic, compassionate, and person-centred, placing patients' needs, values, and cultural context at the heart of care while supporting the broader impact of long-term conditions on their lives.
Lead for the "Pathway to Equity" programme, an award-winning initiative aimed at reducing non-attendance among young people in rheumatology services.
Oversees the Long-Term Conditions Block for King's College London medical students at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and leads the Long-Term Conditions Module for Year 5 medical students.
Contributing as a co-investigator and collaborator on a range of national and international research projects aimed at improving outcomes for children, young people, and adults living with rheumatic and long-term conditions.
Nationally, she contributes through advisory roles with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and the Royal College of Physicians.
